Of all the methods of permanent hair removal, electrolysis is the oldest and widely available.  Each individual hair is treated by inserting a tiny surgical probe into the hair follicle, with this in place; an impulse of energy is transmitted down the hair root to prevent further growth.  The hair is then removed and the therapist moves on the next follicle.

For electrolysis to have a long term effect on hair growth, you will need to have a series of regular treatments.  The advantage of electrolysis is that it is permanent, even though it is slow.  It can take between 1-4 years of treatments to completely remove the hair, though the hair does get softer and sparser throughout the course of treatments

Following each treatment your therapist will advise you on aftercare.  It is important for you to remember to take extra care of the treated area, especially within the first 24-48 hours giving the skin a chance to settle and to allow it to return to normal.
